The oceans give their waters to the clouds, which rain over the land, giving their waters to form the lakes, rivers and streams, which in turn give their waters to the plants and animals, ultimately giving back to the oceans to start the circle again. … In every breath we demonstrate giving: we give away carbon dioxide to the plants, and the plants give back oxygen to us. … This is true even in our economy. If the economy is to be healthy, the money has to be in circulation. If you take the money out of circulation, the economy dies…
God tried to teach us this basic truth within the Old Testament sacrificial system. In that system, a sinner would confess his sin on the head of an animal, and then the sinner would cut the animal’s circulation. The life is in the blood (Lev 17:11), and it circles throughout the body. The teaching is amazingly simple: sin severs the circle of life...
The lifeblood of an animal is, naturally, its physical blood. The lifeblood of the economy is money; of an appliance, electricity. But the lifeblood of the universe is love, which flows from God through Christ to all creation and back to God through Christ again. This is God’s design template. This is the blueprint on which humanity was created to operate!
