We hear the Scriptures telling a complex yet coherent Story of which we are a part. And for us to be at home in the universe (to be at home in our skin!), we need to find ourselves in that story—in the narrative-world the Bible claims is reality.

Some of us also feel uneasy with our tendency to enact competing narratives from our surrounding culture. And we’ve come together to explore both what there is to this, and what to do about it.


Some Initial Questions
  • So, what exactly does it mean to “inhabit God’s Story"? Are we sure it's a legitimate and desirable aim, both epistemologically and biblically?
  • And if so, what may it look like to inhabit God’s Story today? What's going on at this point in the biblical story of reality? What might God be up to in our generation, and what's our role to play? Do we get a script at all?
  • Also, what existential postures, what inner stance, and what sort of relational and situational consciousness does such a reality and such an existence call for?
  • More specifically, as men, how should the biblical story inform our masculinity? Assuming there isn't just one kind or style of masculinity that would be pleasing to God, what are the parameters of biblical masculinity: What sorts of attitudes, postures, and ways of being a man are compatible with the nature and character of the One in whose image we're made?
  • And what about other constructions of reality? How do we remain at home in our own Story while enjoying meaningful relationships with others who basically live in other worlds?

These are just some of the initial questions we're here to explore and live out. And we use all the tools and resources available to that end: biblical studies and church history, the sociology of knowledge and worldview analysis, intellectual discussions and "spiritual" disciplines, mutual support and accountability, trusting the Spirit of God himself will guide us and empower us on this journey—a journey that is as much about faithful allegiance as it is about traction on reality.

A Peer-led Men's Group
This is a transdenominational, peer-led men's group. Ladies, if you’re interested in a group like this (whether women's or coed), please let us know—we could host it here, if you’d like, and we can share notes and resources.

Group Details
There will be opportunity for all kinds of activities and meetups, but at the core of what we do will be our weekly discipleship/support groups. At the beginning this will be our main focus.

These will be closed groups of about 10-15 guys meeting for a semester or so—potentially two-hour weekly meetings. Commitment to attend through the whole semester is required to join, and the groups close to new participants once they start.


Potential Kick-Off
We could start the weekly meetings as soon as this fall. Let's plan to meet virtually for now (via Zoom or other platform). This would allow folks from anywhere in the world to join us for the first semester at least, and we can then stay in touch to support each other as we start local groups.
